This photo shows a wasp clinging upside down to a metal electrical conduit box. Just above the open entrance, within the box, this wasp has built a comb for her offspring. The conduit box provides safe shelter from dangers and the harsh summer sun.
The square composition and a relatively shallow depth of field draws your eye from the wasp standing guard up to the circular entrance of her fortress.
Using various photo processing techniques give the color of this photo an alternative feel. The background has subtle cool yellows, greens, and blues and contrast with the punching warm browns, oranges, and yellows of the wasp.

Artist Thoughts
When I created this image I had just been thrown a life altering curve ball. It spoke to me and reminded me a few things about live, mainly I have to adapt to whatever obstacles and changes life presents.
Many insects and wasps have adapted to physically cling to surfaces upside down as if defying gravity.
The fact that the wasp chose such an available and ideal place for her nest reminded me to use what I have and innovate.
